About
CandyBomber is Kate Duhamel’s production company, creating novel live performances, films and video games that tell stories through innovative collaborations among dancers, musicians, visual artists, spoken word artists and video game developers. CandyBomber is producing its second major project, FRAY, a ground-breaking transmedia project that tells a story about two brothers whose bond frays when the older is lured into a dangerously consuming virtual game world by an AI character he created for a video game contest. The FRAY project includes a the “FRAY Game” video game for PC’s, and a mobile app, “FRAY Jam,” a short mobile game built on Unity for fans to play as a companion to the live show, and available for free in app stores now: Apple App Store, Google Play Store. . FRAY follows CandyBomber’s successful launch in 2018 of the live show, FURY, a dance show based on the hit movie, Mad Max; Fury Road.
Kate Duhamel
Founder & Creative Director
Kate’s vision is to bring dance, music and visual arts and gaming together to portray exciting stories in immersive environments. She works with teams of artists across disciplines to create bold and innovative performance and gaming experiences.
Through her prior production company, Fountain 3 Films, Kate wrote, directed and produced independent films and video design for stage, focusing on dance and music. Her short dance films have won awards and shown in film festivals and museums around the world. She received rave reviews for the projection designs for Swimmer, a stage production for San Francisco Ballet choreographed by Yuri Possokhov. Kate has been active behind the scenes as well, serving on several boards of large performing arts organizations in San Francisco, and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of her alma mater, Stanford University.
“CandyBomber Commissions” was a program that paid artists to make new works from home during the Covid shut down. CandyBomber also made a short dance film, “Fly Me To The Moon” during the pandemic to celebrate the original Candy Bomber, Gail Halvorsen, who was 100 years old. In Kate’s words, “The meaning behind the CandyBomber name is important and is greatly inspiring to me. I hope my version of candy bombing through collaborative, artistic story-telling follows in his flight path.”

James Jackson: Musical Director
James Jackson is a producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The founder and creative director of YASSOU, he led the team of musical creators for FURY, and is musical director for FRAY. He has spent the last five years creating critically acclaimed content across musical genres and artistic disciplines. In 2015, YASSOU released an “album cycle” of 6 single music videos pronounced by Nylon as “redefining the album”, and by BillBoard as “a group that should be on your radar.”
Dani Rowe: Choreographer, FURY
After a long career as a principal ballerina with Australian Ballet, Houston Ballet and Nederlands Dance Theatre, Dani is now a sought after professional choreographer creating work for established ballet companies around the world. She created the choreography for the FURY Show
Babatunji: Dancer, FURY; Story Collaborator, FRAY
Babatunji is a world class ballet dancer, having won the prestigious Princess Grace Award in 2016. He danced the principal role of “Max” in the FURY show, and is a story collaborator on FRAY.
MoonMoonMoon: Video Design, FRAY Show
MMM was started in 2015 as a music project by Mark Lohmann in his home country of the Netherlands. Soon, Mark Benis of NYC joined, bringing both composing and game developing experience, and MMM has since grown into an independent studio that develops video games, produces music videos and the two Marks still compose original music for MMM tours.
Herobeat Studios
Herobeat Studios is a game development studio based in Barcelona, Spain. They are developing the FRAY Video Game. They recently released an eco-conscious video game, “Endling,” which is receiving great reviews. Herobeat and CandyBomber are in the process of pitching to publishers with a playable demo of the FRAY Video Game.
